Julia Mason is a London based artist whose work encompasses sculpture, performance, collaborative partnerships and participatory installations.
Julia studied Fine Art Sculpture at Central School of Art and Experimental Media at the Slade, UCL. She is also a qualified nurse and studied at Kings College London and the London School of Economics for a Masters in Public Health.
She is interested in how cultural meaning is invested, and emotional responses evoked, by everyday objects and materials and how this changes when they are re-presented in new settings. Her work is informed by her health practice, an interest in risk and resilience, and raises ethical questions about how power and control is managed through established infrastructures and codified social systems.
